Laguna boys move to 5-3
The Laguna Beach boys’ fifth-grade All-Net team split two weekend games in recent National Junior Basketball action.
In its weekend opener Saturday, Laguna fell, 38-28, in a defensive battle to Niguel Aliso. A key scoring highlight for Laguna saw Gavin Trevino hit a three-point basket to beat the first half buzzer.
Laguna rebounded Sunday and playing one of its best games of the season, used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the Irvine Jets, 54-20. Like Trevino the day prior, Ryan Anthony hit a buzzer beating shot for Laguna which used balanced scoring, sharp passing and full-court pressure defense, to get past the Jets.
The Breakers, who improved to 5-3, play six games over the next two weekends.
The NJB postseason playoffs start the weekend of Feb. 22-23.
