High School Roundup: Estancia baseball unbeaten in nonleague play

Trevor Scott threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts, as the Estancia High School baseball team defeated Whittier Pioneer 9-2 Wednesday in a nonleague game.

Scott allowed two runs on six hits and issued just one walk in the outing, taking his record to 4-0 on the season.

Andrew Coyotzi, Miles Moyer and Jack Moyer each had two runs batted in. Cole Lefebvre had a double and drove in a run, and John Uchytil also had a double, adding a stolen base and a run scored.

Estancia (11-0) opens Orange Coast League play on Friday at 3 p.m. against Calvary Chapel (5-3) in a game to be played at Vanguard University.

BOYS’ GOLF

Costa Mesa 240, Orange 316: Senior Cristopher Rodriguez earned medalist honors in carding a four-over-par 39 from the white tees on the front nine of the Mesa Linda course at the Costa Mesa Country Club Wednesday in an Orange Coast League contest.

Costa Mesa (1-1 overall and in league) faces off with visiting Ocean View next Wednesday on the Mesa Linda course.

The Seahawks are scheduled to play their season opener on Tuesday against Westminster at Meadowlark Golf Course at 3 p.m.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 11, Woodbridge 7: Niels Hoffmann swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Wednesday’s nonleague match at CdM.

Logan Friedman won twice in singles for CdM (4-1), while Max Krykunenko and Jonathan Hinkel swept in doubles. Kevin Joynt and Jack Knox won twice in doubles.

The Sea Kings play at Portola on March 16.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 21, Yorba Linda 1: Lucas Newton scored four goals to lead the Sea Kings in Wednesday’s nonleague match.

Ty Caffarelli scored three times for CdM (3-0), which hosts Palos Verdes on Friday.
