The Huntington Beach High School baseball team enters the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on a 13-game winning streak.
Almost three miles to the north, Ocean View also has a good thing going. The Seahawks enter the Division 2 postseason on a 14-game winning streak.
Both teams need five more wins for the CIF crown.
Huntington Beach and Ocean View were two of the six local teams that learned who their opponents will be when the section released playoff brackets Sunday. Corona del Mar and Marina also will compete in Division 2, with Fountain Valley in Division 3 and Los Amigos in Division 6.
Surf League champion Huntington Beach (23-4) hosts Santa Margarita (17-12) in a Division 1 first-round game Thursday. The Eagles made the playoffs as an at-large team after finishing fifth in the six-team Trinity League.
Ocean View (21-6), the Golden West League champion, earned the No. 4 seed in Division 2 and is the only local team to be seeded in its division. The Seahawks host Coastal Canyon League runner-up Simi Valley (11-15) in a first-round game Friday.
CdM (19-7) won the Wave League and finished sixth in the final Division 2 poll. The Sea Kings host Covina Northview (17-8), which tied for second place in the Valle Vista League, in another Division 2 first-round game Friday.
Also in Division 2, Wave League runner-up Marina (13-16-1) travels to South Coast League co-champion Mission Viejo (16-13) in the first round Friday.
Fountain Valley (14-13), which finished fourth in the Surf League, made the Division 3 playoffs as an at-large team. The Barons play at Mt. Baldy League champion Chino Don Lugo (18-6) in the first round Thursday.
Los Amigos (5-5) made the postseason after finishing third in the Garden Grove League. The Lobos travel to play South Valley League runner-up Temecula Prep (7-4) in the first round Thursday.
