High School Roundup: Fountain Valley wrestling has decade of league dominance

The Fountain Valley High School wrestling team defeated Los Alamitos 63-12 to capture the Surf League championship on Friday at home.
The Barons’ streak of consecutive league titles is at 10 and counting.
Matthew Phillips (113 pounds), Luis Ramirez (132), Sean Solis (138), Hercules Windrath (160), TJ McDonnell (170), Ryland Whitworth (195), Jasen Harviston (220) and Michael Trgo (285) each recorded pins for the Barons.
Aiden Nguyen (106) and Max Wilner (182) earned victories by major decision, and Jerry Co (126) and Kade Ayres (145) won by decision for Fountain Valley (3-1, 3-0 in the Surf League).
BOYS’ TENNIS
Ocean View 11, Garden Grove 7: The host Seahawks completed an undefeated run in Golden West League play with a win on Friday, earning the first league title for the program since 2001.
Nick Chumacero and Parker Walpole both swept in singles. Ocean View coach John Volo said that each singles player and each doubles team for the Seahawks contributed at least one set victory in the match.
Ocean View finished the season at 10-3 overall and 8-0 in league.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Surf League finals
Huntington Beach swept the singles and doubles championships Friday at Corona del Mar High.
Oilers senior Kaytlin Taylor won the singles title, while junior Cindy Huynh and her freshman sister Yen Nhi Nguyen won the doubles crown.
Wave League finals
Laguna Beach junior Sarah MacCallum won the singles title with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-2 victory over Marina sophomore Mika Ikemori on Friday at Marina High.
Laguna Beach sophomore Kaitlyn Smith placed third.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Laguna Beach 50, Huntington Beach 40: Nolan Naess scored 20 points to lead the visiting Breakers on Friday in a Surf League game.
Chase Hall added eight points, Willie Rounaghi had eight points, Jackson Sirianni scored eight points, and Kai Gillies chipped in with two points for Laguna Beach (12-0).
Huntington Beach is now 4-9 overall.
SOFTBALL
Fullerton 6, Newport Harbor 2: Eliana Gottlieb went two for four with a home run and two runs batted in to lead the Sailors on Saturday in a nonleague home game.
Lily Larkins and Dru Stinson each had two hits for Newport Harbor (11-5).
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Estancia 3, Pacifica Christian Orange County 2: The visiting Eagles defeated the Tritons 19-25, 27-25, 25-23, 15-25, 15-11 on Saturday in a nonleague match.
Estancia improved to 4-4 overall, while Pacifica Christian is now 9-6 on the season.
