High School Roundup: Fountain Valley High boys’ basketball opens season with win over Huntington Beach

Senior guard Jeremiah Davis had 15 points and five steals as the Fountain Valley High School boys’ basketball team beat Huntington Beach 75-41 in its nonleague season opener Wednesday night at home.
Roddie Anderson had 13 points, four rebounds and four steals for the Barons, and MaCarhy Morris chipped in 10 points.
Cong-ly Tu scored 12 points for Huntington Beach (2-4).
Edison 69, Ocean View 36: Senior forward Connor Collins had a team-high 18 points to lead the host Chargers on Wednesday in a nonleague game.
Junior forward Trey Wilborn added 17 points for Edison (4-2).
Ocean View is now 0-4 overall.
Corona del Mar 54, Tesoro 50: Scott Truninger had 17 points to pace the Sea Kings in Wednesday’s nonleague game at CdM.
Matthys Djombe-Enyawe scored 11 points for CdM (3-1), while Jack Loucks and Hudson Bond scored nine each.
BASEBALL
Fountain Valley 5, Edison 1: Chris Ouellette had a hit and three runs scored for the Barons in Wednesday’s nonleague game at Edison High.
Tim Grack had a hit and two runs batted in for Fountain Valley (8-3), and Ryan Sullivan added a hit and one RBI.
Edison is now 5-5.
Marina 16, Westminster 4: Seniors Gavin Langer and David Mashburn each hit their third home run of the season for the Vikings in Wednesday’s nonleague game at Marina High.
Sophomore Tyler Wilson pitched three shutout innings in relief, earning the win for Marina (5-5-1).
BOYS’ SOCCER
Corona del Mar 2, Fountain Valley 0: Dean Shaw scored twice to lead the Sea Kings on Wednesday in a Surf League match at Fountain Valley High School.
Hassan Selim and Dallas Roberts each drew an assist for CdM (3-6-3, 1-1 in the Surf League).
Fountain Valley fell to 4-5-1 overall and 0-2 in league.
BOYS’ GOLF
Edison 187, Los Alamitos 206: Connor Krueger shot a three-under-par 33 with four birdies on the day to lead the visiting Chargers in Wednesday’s Sunset Conference crossover match at Old Ranch Country Club.
Edison improved to 8-2 overall with the win.
