The 405 Freeway Cities Coalition will present a forum Thursday evening to gather public input about the state’s proposal to add toll lanes on the 405 Freeway.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Ave. Council members from the six coalition cities — Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Seal Beach, Westminster and Los Alamitos — are expected to attend.
The California Department of Transportation wants to replace the carpool lane in each direction with a toll option on the 14-mile stretch of the 405 between the 605 Freeway and the 55 Freeway. Caltrans’ plan also includes an additional general-purpose lane in each direction.
In December, the Orange County Transportation Authority voted to add one general-purpose lane in each direction, with an option to build a second lane, free or toll, in the future.
