Man arrested on suspicion of burglary in Irvine
Irvine police confiscated five shotguns and a rifle from a man they suspect broke into homes this month to steal the firearms and other items.
Detectives arrested Kamal Valadez, 29, on suspicion of burglarizing a home on Las Palmas in Irvine where the shotguns had been taken Monday.
Police believe Valadez is also linked to an April 5 burglary on Monte Vista. Police found purses and jewelry taken from that house in Valadez’s car, according to a news release.
Detectives identified Valadez as a suspect when they saw him take a duffel bag from a shrub near the home that was broken into Monday.
Police found Valadez at a friend’s home in Lake Forest on Tuesday afternoon and arrested him.
Officials booked him on two counts of residential burglary. He is being held at Orange County Jail on $50,000 bail.
Detectives are still working to determine where the rifle, identification cards and paperwork found with Valadez may have been stolen from, police said.
