A Newport-Mesa area women’s recovery center raised $450,000 during a recent event in Newport Beach.
New Directions for Women’s sixth annual Circle of Life fundraising breakfast took place March 31 at the Big Canyon Country Club. The event, which drew more than 200 attendees, generated $225,000. That amount was then matched dollar for dollar by an anonymous family, organizers said in a news release.
New Directions, a state-licensed, 24-bed facility on Willo Lane, will use the funds toward scholarships for women seeking recovery from chemical dependency, according to the release.
More than 5,000 women have completed the program, which began in 1977 and is expanding with another 6,000 square feet of space, organizers said.
