Huntington Beach police are looking for a man who robbed and sexually assaulted a local woman, according to a statement from authorities.
The man is described as 5-foot-7, Latino and 22 to 26 years old with a medium build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt with white and blue designs.
Police say that around 1 a.m. Oct. 3, a woman returning to her residence near Bolsa Chica Road and Warner Avenue was approached from behind as the man grabbed her and covered her mouth.
Police said the assailant was carrying a handgun and told the victim not to scream.
The two fell to the ground as the victim resisted the attacker’s grasp, at which point he sexually assaulted the woman, stole her personal items and fled, police said.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Huntington Beach Police Department hotline at (714) 375-5066 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) 847-6227.
