Newport Beach police arrested a man on suspicion of bicycling while drunk Saturday night.
A caller reported that a man had fallen off his bike and was lying in the road near 28th Street and Newport Boulevard a few minutes before 9 p.m., according to police.
When officers arrived, they found two San Clemente residents, James Zillmer, 29, and his wife, Jenny Zillmer, 28, both of whom seemed quite impaired, Newport police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.
Officials treated James Zillmer for injuries at the scene, Manzella said.
James Zillmer was arrested on suspicion of bicycling while intoxicated and resisting or obstructing a police officer, and Jenny Zillmer was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness, Manzella said.
