Man fatally shoots himself in Newport park

A man fatally shot himself on a park bench in Newport Beach on Monday afternoon, officials said.
Police responded to a report of a single gunshot at a park on Alta Vista Drive at 3 p.m.
Officers found the man hunched over on a park bench. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Steve Rasmussen.
The man’s age and city of residence were not provided.
Police are not releasing additional information about the incident.
