Applications accepted for personnel panel

The Newport-Mesa Unified School District is accepting applications from residents willing to serve on its three-member personnel commission.

The commission oversees hiring and treatment of the district’s classified employees, according to a news release.

Commissioners “oversee the merit system for recruitment and selection, hear appeals to disciplinary action, and maintain a job classification system,” the release stated.

They usually serve three years, but this term would end Dec. 1, 2015, because of time remaining on a previous commissioner’s term, according to the district.

Only applicants who live in Costa Mesa or Newport Beach and are registered to vote in Orange County will be considered, the release stated.

The deadline for applications is noon Sept. 6. Interested persons can apply at nmusd.us/pc.
