Orchestra needs volunteers for concert

Costa Mesa city officials and the Pacific Symphony are looking for 40 volunteers to help with a free outdoor concert taking place next week at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

The orchestra’s family-friendly July 26 concert is part of its annual “Symphony in the Cities” series, supported by a corporate sponsorship with Target. It is the first time in the series’ nine-year history that one has taken place in Costa Mesa, which otherwise hosts the orchestra throughout the concert season in the center’s Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

The performance begins at 7 p.m., with a “musical playground” for children at 5:30 p.m. Kids can test instruments, make crafts and play in a drum circle.

Volunteers will be needed to help with the playground and pass out programs and other marketing materials. They are needed until 7 p.m., officials said.

The Arts Plaza is at 600 Town Center Drive.
