Man arrested after alleged battery

A man was arrested on suspicion of battery after he allegedly dragged a woman up the stairs and hit her in the face Saturday at Victoria Beach, Laguna Beach police said.

Daniel McDaniel, 22, was charged with battery and taken into custody after the incident involving him and his girlfriend, Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an email.

The victim, a 33-year-old Lake Forest resident, had abrasions to her arms and legs, but refused medical assistance, Callus said.

She called police at 7:16 p.m. Saturday, reporting McDaniel dragged her from the sand up the stairs, according to the police log.

The woman resisted, but McDaniel hit her twice with his fist, the log said.

Police did not know the motive for the attack, and McDaniel was being held on $10,000 bail, according to Callus and the log.
