Boys & Girls Club exhibit at LAM
Laguna Art Museum and the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach teamed up for a new exhibit, “In Our Imagination,” a collection of artwork by Boys & Girls Club students that was inspired by ex•pose artist Allison Schulnik.
For the exhibit, which runs through April 14 in the Young Artists Society Gallery in the museum, Boys & Girls Club Art Director Art Director Emily Murray worked with students ages 5 to 12 in her after-school art class, according to a press release. The students created sculpted paintings using modeling paste and thick applications of acrylic paint, the release said.
The gallery, located on the lower level of the museum, features artwork by K-12 students from Orange County schools and nonprofit groups.

SchoolPower seeks ads for Student Directory
SchoolPower is a quarter of the way to its goal of raising $70,000 through the ad campaign for the 2013-14 Student Directory, according to a news release.
Funds raised support Laguna’s schools. SchoolPower is offering preferred ad placement for businesses interested in advertising by April 15.
FOR THE RECORD:
An earlier version incorrectly reported that SchoolPower is offering special pricing for ads submitted by April 15. They’re actually offering preferred placement for the ads.
“I am so grateful to the many businesses in our community that offer such generous and enthusiastic support of SchoolPower,” said Chair Melissa Cavanaugh in a statement. “Whether a first-time or long-term advertiser, a sponsor, Laguna Locals Card business, or a Business Alliance partner, it is people like them who make a difference for all of our 3,000-plus kids in Laguna Beach public schools.”
She expects to match or exceed last year’s success of $72,000 in ad sales.
The deadline for advertising in the Student Directory is April 30. For more information, visit https://www.lbschoolpower.org or call (949) 494-6811.
