Groups join for V-Day campaign
Orange County NOW, Miss R*EVOLutionaries, Health Rhythms and Pacific Shore NOW joined together in Newport Beach on Thursday for One Billion Rising.
The campaign was part of V-Day, a global movement to end violence against women and girls. It raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of playwright and founder Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” and other artistic works, according to a news release.
One in three women will be beaten or raped during her lifetime, according to the release.
To date, V-Day has raised more than $90 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it, reopened shelters, and funded more than 14,000 community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses. For more information, visit https://www.vday.org.
