Pedestrian in critical condition after Newport crash
A 51-year-old man is in critical condition following a collision with a taxi cab in Newport Beach, police said Tuesday.
The man was walking toward the sidewalk in the transition lane at East Coast Highway and MacArthur Boulevard about 7 p.m. Monday when a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria taxi cab struck him, according to Newport Beach police.
The man was taken to Santa Ana’s Western Medical Center.
The taxi driver, a 54-year-old Santa Ana man, was not injured, police said.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, police said.
Anyone with more information is asked to call Traffic Investigator Scott Grecco at (949) 644-3747 or email [email protected].
