Property taxes due Monday
The first installment of the 2012-13 secured property taxes must be paid by Monday to avoid late charges, according to county officials.
If received payments do not have a postal stamp of Monday or earlier, the payer will be subject to a 10% delinquent fee, Treasurer-Tax Collector Shari Freidenrich said in a news release.
She advised paying the bill securely online using a checking or savings account by going to bos.ocgov.com/octaxbill. Online payments are accepted through midnight Monday — a change from last year’s 5 p.m. online deadline.
If paying by credit card, the convenience fee is 2.3% of the tax due — down by 10% compared to last year — with a minimum charge of $3.95.
County officials are reporting increases in receiving online payments versus mailed ones since last year.
The second property tax installment is due Feb. 1 and is delinquent after April 10.
