The third annual Rockabilly Showdown returns to the Orange County Market Place starting Saturday with bands vying for a performance spot and cash prizes, according to the event web page.
Twelve unsigned bands will perform over the course of four Saturdays — May 26, June 2, 9 and 16 — with three bands performing each day. The event begins at noon each day.
The winner will receive $1,000 and the role as opening act for an undisclosed top billing Rockabilly band, according to the event flier.
A panel of judges will evaluate each band on musicianship, showmanship, song selections and audience response.
Admission is free with the donation of a canned food item to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Regular admission is $2 and children 12 and younger admitted free.
