An Irvine woman is set to appear in court on charges that she killed a toddler when running a red light in Tustin, authorities said.
Soon Ok Lee, 66, is accused of running a red light at Edinger Avenue and Kensington Park Drive, hitting a car carrying a family of three and killing a 3-year-old girl who suffered blunt force trauma to the head, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.
The child’s mother also suffered a fracture in her hip, prosecutors said.
Lee is charged with one felony count of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury.
She has not entered a plea, and if convicted faces up to nine years in state prison. She is scheduled to appear in court May 22.
