AlertOC test call is Oct. 20 [Corrected date]
Newport Beach residents should receive an annual test call message from AlertOC, a countywide emergency notification system, at 5 p.m. Oct. 20. It’s the same system that alerted residents to the tsunami advisory earlier this year.
FOR THE RECORD:
[This corrects an earlier version that said the call was Thursday.]
According to city officials, all listed primary residential phones in Newport Beach are automatically included in the system. The test will last less than a minute.
Business lines are also included in the system, but will not receive the test call this year.
Those who do not receive the test call, despite having a listed residential landline, are encouraged to visit the city’s website, click on the “Disaster Preparedness” button and enter their contact information.
