MySpace rapist sentenced to 15 years in prison
A 22-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday for raping three women, one of whom he attacked in a Newport Beach hotel.
Jason Ara Erpinar pleaded guilty Monday to two felony counts of rape by intoxication and one felony count of forcible rape.
In March 2008, Erpinar went on a date with a 22-year-old woman he met on MySpace.
The two drank alcohol at an Orange County park, and Erpinar raped her at a hotel in Newport Beach while she was severely intoxicated.
The victim sought treatment at a hospital the following day and reported the crime to Newport Beach police.
An investigation could not be conducted at the time due to a lack of evidence.
In March 2009, Erpinar took an 18-year-old woman he met on MySpace to a house party in La Habra.
He raped her in a bedroom after she had become too intoxicated to resist.
She reported the incident to the La Habra Police Department.
During their investigation, authorities contacted Erpinar’s ex-girlfriend.
She told police that he was physically abusive and raped her between August 2006 and October 2007.
The girl was 17 at the time.
