One person was taken to the hospital and was recovering after a noxious odor leaked from a plastic surgeon’s lab July 28, the Huntington Beach Fire Department said.
The department evacuated everyone from a Florida Street office building after four people experienced symptoms.
Firefighters responded at 10 a.m. after employees on the fourth floor complained about the smell, said Deputy Fire Marshal Jeff Lopez.
One person was transported to a local emergency room, but the other three recovered within a few minutes and didn’t need medical attention, Lopez said.
The plastic surgeon’s employees on the third floor said the odor was normal and part of their process.
By the early afternoon, the Orange County Fire Authority’s hazmat team and the county’s health department, which were also on scene, determined that the odor was not hazardous, Lopez said.
