Newport Beach fields closed due to rain

All public athletic fields were expected to remain closed to sporting activities until Thursday or Friday because Tuesday’s morning rain caused muddy conditions,

said Mike Ferris of Newport Beach’s Park Patrol.

A combination of safety concerns and preventive measures to lessen damage to the fields were reasons for their temporary closure, Ferris said.
