Assemblyman Jim Silva, whose district covers Huntington Beach, has announced that he will run for State Senate in 2012.
Silva, who was first elected to the 67th District in 2006, hopes to fill the seat held by Tom Harman, who will be termed out next year.
According to Silva’s campaign website, the assemblyman has received endorsements from Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas and Harman, among others.
Silva lives in Huntington Beach and served on the City Council from 1988 to 1994. He later served on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
