Crash ends with car on top of another
An unidentified female driver Monday veered off of a Costa Mesa street, hit a fire hydrant, stopped on top of a parked vehicle and damaged a second parked vehicle, a resident said.
The crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. in the 900 block of West 19th Street, said Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Phil Myers.
The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, he said.
While the cause of the accident is unknown, it appears as if momentum carried the victim’s car over the curb, breaking the hydrant and driving up onto the front a second vehicle parked in a residential driveway, said resident Larry Goldberg, who witnessed the aftermath of the crash.
Both vehicles then slid into the driver’s side of a third parked vehicle, Goldberg said.
There were no injuries involved in the crash, Myers said.
