Group fined over Croul donation

The group behind Newport Beach’s 2008 City Hall in the Park ballot measure has been fined $2,000 for failing to report a major donor on campaign disclosure statements.

The California Fair Political Practices Commission ruled that the City Hall in the Park committee and its treasurer, Lysa Ray, failed to report in campaign filings that retired Behr Process Corp. chairman Jack Croul was the major donor behind the ballot measure.

Croul poured about $680,000 into the Measure B campaign.
