Cable company helps robotics team

Lake View Elementary School received funding from Time Warner Cable for the school’s NASA Explorer School Program in robotics and rocketry.

A $1,300 check helped send the school’s Robotics Team to a competition in March at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena’s California Institution of Technology.

The Robotic Team consisted of fourth- and fifth-graders who competed against more than 35 teams, ranging from the San Diego to the Santa Barbara area. The team won sixth place and took home the Sportsmanship Award from the competition.

The donation also helped buy various launching and safety equipment for the school’s annual Rocket Night, held earlier this month, where students exercised their creativity by building, decorating and launching their own rockets.
