UC Irvine def. Pacific
IRVINE — Sophomore Carson Clark led all players with 14 kills and two service aces to lead the No. 8-ranked Anteaters to a 30-17, 30-25, 30-27 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win at Crawford Court Friday.
UCI improved to 15-13, 10-11 in the MPSF. The Anteaters’ MPSF tournament berth is still undecided as UC Santa Barbara defeated Hawaii Friday to remain one victory behind UCI heading into the final contest tonight. UCSB holds the tiebreaker if the teams finish with the same league record.

COSTA MESA — Brad Hemmerling had 18 kills and three aces to lead the Pirates to a 30-25, 20-30, 30-26, 30-14 Pacific Coast Conference win Friday night.
Troy Tomasello (18 kills) and Jeff Patton (12 kills) also contributed for OCC (16-2, 10-2 in conference), while libero Harrison Phelps had 18 digs and Paul Leon amassed 49 assists.
The Knights dropped to 8-10, 5-7.
OCC will play host to Santa Monica City College Tuesday in the Southern California Regional Playoffs, beginning at 7 p.m. The State Final Four will take place Thursday (5:30 and 8 p.m.) and Saturday (7 p.m.) at OCC.

Conference Tournament
CYPRESS — Orange Coast College’s Brad Fisher and Matt Miller qualified for the Southern California Regional Tournament in singles after reaching the quarterfinals Friday at Cypress College.
Fisher, an Estancia High product, won three matches after a bye to reach the conference semifinals, where the tourney ends. Miller reached the quarterfinals after a bye and two wins.
The Pirates had three doubles teams qualify for the regional tournament, as the No. 1 team of Fisher and Yannick Lepage, the No. 2 team of Miller and Kevin Tran, and the No. 3 team of Jesse Chen and Tony Wright advanced.

Conference Tournament
IRVINE — Orange Coast College qualified three singles players and two doubles teams to the Southern California Regional Tournament Friday at Irvine Valley College.
The Pirates’ Kim Ho and Anna Walinowicz both won in the quarterfinals for singles, while Melissa Boyer reached the quarterfinals to qualify as well.
The OCC doubles’ teams of Boyer-Ho and Walinowicz-Nicole Naughton also advanced.

WALNUT — UC Irvine teams turned in several strong performances Friday.
Kevin Palmer and Trevor Wightman finished fourth and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with times of 53.56 and 53.79, respectively, in the field of 22 runners.
Jacob Yowell placed ninth of 22 competitors in the 110 high hurdles in 14.55.
Freshman Vanessa Houston placed fifth of 42 runners in the 100 with a time of 11.97 and she was seventh of 45 competitors in the 200 in 24.11, the second-fastest time in UCI history.
Madeline Leduc finished ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 39 feet, 3 3/4 inches

LOS ANGELES — Kat Plummer scored to goals for the No. 13-ranked Anteaters in a nonconference game against the No. 7 Lions Friday.
