Man on parole held in heroin case
A Laguna Beach man was jailed after police were called to the 1300 block of Lewellyn Drive on a report of a man on the ground with hypodermic syringes surrounding him at 1:16 p.m. April 9, Lt. Jason Kravetz said.
Officers searched Sean Margetta Laverty, 28, and allegedly found black tar heroin along with a spoon and syringes in his belongings.
Laverty was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia, Kravetz said.
The suspect, who was on parole from a previous violation, was then held without bail at Orange County jail, according to jail records.
Burglary victim gets property back
A backpack stolen from a Laguna Beach resident’s vehicle was returned after Newport Beach Police pulled over a man who had the victim’s backpack in his car, Kravetz said.
The victim’s car had been burglarized near North Coast Highway and Viejo Street, but the owner wasn’t aware of the crime.
The passenger side window had been smashed and a $50 backpack and contents were stolen. The burglary was reported, after the property was discovered, at 3:02 p.m. Saturday.
Man accused of stealing from host
A Dana Point man was arrested at 9:09 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of stealing cash and prescription pills from a home in the 30000 block of Ceanothus Drive where he was attending a party, Kravetz said.
Nicolas Benjamin Moore, 26, was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and possessing a controlled substance, after the homeowner noticed prescription medications missing and called police.
Moore was contacted by police and came to the police station, where police allegedly found the stolen pills in his possession, and arrested him. Moore was held without bail at Orange County Jail, according to jail records.
Woman accused of battery on officers
A Huntington Beach woman was arrested after she allegedly urinated on police officers after employees at a coffee shop in the 100 block of North Coast Highway called for assistance because the woman was refusing to leave the shop at 8:42 a.m. Monday, Kravetz said.
Sheree Lorraine Robson, 68, had allegedly given a false name and date of birth to police, who soon discovered her real name and a $1,500 warrant for her arrest, Kravetz said.
As police were placing her under arrest, she allegedly began to resist, then urinated on two officers who were patting her down. Robson was arrested on suspicion of battery on an officer.
Men allegedly fight over littering
An accusation of littering ended in an arrest at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of South Coast Highway, Kravetz said.
One man accused another of littering, and a verbal and physical fight ensued, Kravetz alleged.
One man accused the other of punching him in the face, according to police records. A 39-year-old Redondo Beach man was taken into custody on suspicion of misdemeanor battery.
