The fourth annual Student Art Exhibit at Huntington Beach Art Center sponsored by the Huntington Beach City School District seeks to showcase the importance of art in education, organizers said.
“It can’t just be about reading, writing and arithmetic anymore,” said Jeannette Price, a parent volunteer liaison. “We want our students to be creative thinkers as well, and art really provides that.”
The exhibit will feature artwork from various mediums, ranging from oil, pastels and charcoals, to digital. Teachers choose the works for exhibition.
Opening night, 6 to 8 p.m. April 23, will feature performing arts in addition to visual arts. The exhibit will be on display through May 9 at the Huntington Beach Art Center, 538 Main Street. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
