LA JOLLA — Sophomore Austin D’Amore had a career-high 12 total blocks (one solo) to help the No. 10-ranked Anteaters to a 30-23, 30-13, 30-21 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win Friday.

Sophomore Carson Clark also posted a career-high seven total blocks to go with a match-high 17 kills for UCI (14-13, 9-11 in the MPSF). Setter Jeff Schmitz recorded 37 set assists.

Setter Phil Bannan, a Corona del Mar product, recorded 28 assists and a team-high seven digs for the No. 14 Tritons (8-18, 4-15).

COSTA MESA — Brad Hemmerling had 18 kills to lead the Pirate to a 30-28, 30-25, 30-21 Pacfic Coast Conference win Friday night.

Troy Tomasello added 10 kills and Paul Leon had 37 assists for OCC (15-2, 9-2 in conference)

AZUSA — The No. 10-ranked Lions rallied from a 4-1 deficit, winning the final four singles matches for the Golden State Athletic Conference upset of the No. 5 Cougars Friday.

Vanguard improved to 11-6,. 7-6.

Big West Challenge Cup

IRVINE — UC Irvine’s Charles Jock and Tim Murphy won individual events at Anteater Stadium Friday night.

Jock won the 400 meters in 46.94, a time that ties him with Darryl McGee (1978) for No. 5 all-time at UCI.

Murphy earned first place in the 800 meters in 1:49.49.

UCI’s 4x100 relay of Hermes Ongsansoy, Hernandez, Kevin Palmer and Joe Pearson won in 41.47 as did the 4x400 relay of Hernandez, Murphy, Jacob Yowell and Jock in 3:11.83.
