Elsie Pauly
Elsie Pauly died at Hoag Memorial Hospital
Presbyterian on April 6, 2010 after a short
illness. Born in Wahpeton, ND in 1923,
she was the youngest of eight children. She
is preceded in death by her husband, Leo
Pauly and six of her brothers and sisters.
Surviving is her sister, Edith Thimjon of
Omaha Nebraska. Also surviving Elsie are
her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and David Hughes of Newport
Coast, CA.
Family was most important to Elsie and she dearly loved her three
granddaughters and their families: Heather and Jack Flanagan and
their children, Hannah and Sean; Melissa and Chris Evans and their
daughters, Tatum and Reagan; and Holly and Tom Horning.
Residing in Costa Mesa for 54 years, she retired from the State of
California with 25 years of service. She was a parishioner of St. John
the Baptist Church since its inception. Volunteering for 20 years
at the Orange County Performing Arts Center was one of her great
pleasures, as was playing bridge with various Costa Mesa groups.
Elsie’s family will miss her wonderful spirit and her caring and
thoughtful presence. Please join them at a vigil to be held Monday,
April 12th from 5 to 9 pm at HarborLawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park
and Mortuary, 1625 Gisler Avenue, Costa Mesa, and for the funeral
mass, Tuesday, April 13th, 10 am, at St. John the Baptist Church,
1015 Baker Street, Costa Mesa.
