Police have DUI checkpoint tonight

Costa Mesa police will conduct a DUI checkpoint tonight on Baker and Bear streets.
The checkpoint, on Baker Street off of Bear, will be from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Officers will be looking for drivers under the influence or people behind the wheel without a license or without a valid license, officials said.
Police often do DUI checkpoints to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence and to remind the public about enforcement. They do not typically result in a lot of arrests, police said.
Just last weekend, a 20-year-old woman from Costa Mesa was killed in an alcohol-related crash on Sunflower Avenue near the Orange County Performing Arts Center. A man has been charged with murder in that case.
Funding for the checkpoint has been provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
