Lions’ Scott honored

Vanguard University senior point guard Greg Scott has been named Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Week in men’s basketball.

The 5-foot-10 Scott had 35 points, six rebounds and five assists in the Lions’ 77-66 conference home win over Hope International on Feb. 9. The victory halted a seven-game losing streak.

Thursday, he had 28 points, four assists and two steals in a 97-84 loss at Fresno Pacific.

Scott was 22 for 31 from the field (71%) in the two games, including seven of 10 from three-point range.

He is averaging 17.1 points, 3.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds for Vanguard (5-15, 4-10 in conference).

Scott is shooting 52.8% from the field for the season (141 for 267) and has drained 42.9% of his three-point attempts (30 of 70).

The Lions return to action tonight with a GSAC contest at San Diego Christian at 7:30.
