Two people were robbed at gunpoint in Costa Mesa over the weekend in separate incidents, police said Monday.
About 12:40 p.m., police said a man was on his bike near Victoria Street and Canyon Drive when two men waved the bicyclist down as if they needed something.
When the bicyclist went over, one man pulled out a gun and the other a knife, Lt. Bryan Glass said. They led the man to a nearby footpath where they stole his backpack.
They then got into a waiting vehicle and left, Glass said. The victim was not injured.
Farther south, police said a group of four men robbed a pedestrian about 11 p.m. off Rutgers Drive and Wilson Street. The person was walking down the street when four men ran across the street and approached him, two pulling out guns and two pulling out knives, Glass said. They stole the victim’s possessions then got into a nearby car, police said. Police did not provide detailed descriptions of the suspects.
