Simpson to have send-off

Huntington Beach native Brett Simpson will have a send-off Feb. 19, celebrating his qualification for this year’s Assn. of Surfing Professionals World Tour.

The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. at Huntington Surf and Sport. Simpson, the 2009 U.S. Open of Surfing champion, will be on hand, along with other Hurley riders. The event will be just hours before Simpson flies to Australia for his first ASP World Tour event.

H.B. softball holding alumnae game

The Huntington Beach High varsity softball team will hold its first alumnae softball game Feb. 20 at the high school.

The program is looking for any local alumnae who played varsity softball at the school over the years and would be interested in playing in this year’s game against the 2010 team.

Ocean View baseball holding poker night

The Ocean View High baseball boosters are holding a Texas Hold-Em Poker fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Centerfield Bar in Huntington Beach.
