Cancer survivor to talk at business club

The Laguna Beach Business club will hold their next meeting at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Hotel Laguna. The guest speaker will be Matt Jones.

Jones is a professional speaker, author and three-time cancer conqueror. On Sept. 11, 2002, at the age of 23, he was diagnosed with cancer. After spreading to his brain, doctors did not think he would live.

Against all odds, he recovered and had a bone marrow transplant. Due to an infection in his brain, he had to relearn how to walk. One year after finishing his treatment, he completed the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. Jones is working toward his goal of running one marathon on every continent and his next one is March 21 in Rome.
