Drivers will need to plan ahead Sunday as runners take over Huntington Beach for the 14th annual Surf City Marathon
The event, which includes a marathon, half-marathon, 5K run, children’s run and fitness expo, will cause many streets to be roped off. Pacific Coast Highway will be closed from Beach Boulevard to Warner Avenue from at 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, and several smaller streets will be closed between 6 and 9:30 a.m.
Portions of Huntington Central Park will also be closed during the event, but Breakfast in the Park and the Park Bench Cafe will be open. For more information on street closures, call the Community Services Department at (714) 536-5486.
Seapoint Street will be closed in both directions from Pacific Coast Highway to Palm Avenue with the exception of one northbound open lane on Seapoint from Palm to Summit Drive for residents.
Overlook Drive will be closed, but residents should use the Edwards Street gate for both exit and entrance.
Only one northbound lane of Edwards will be open from Garfield to Ellis avenues. Edwards will be closed from Ellis to Central Park Drive except for residents adjacent to Central Park West.
Goldenwest Street will be closed between Ellis and Slater Avenue and from Orange Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway.
Garfield will be closed from Edwards to Seapoint.
Ellis will be blocked from Quarterhorse Lane to Edwards.
Talbert Avenue will be stopped from Fieldbury Lane to Edwards.
Portions of Varsity, Central Park, Summit and Inlet drives will also be closed.
