Driver rushed to hospital after crash

The driver of a sedan was rushed to Santa Ana’s Western Medical Center this morning after losing control of the car, which rolled onto its roof as it drove onto the southbound 55 Freeway from the 73 Freeway in Costa Mesa, authorities said.
The driver was getting onto the 55 Freeway about 5 a.m. when it rolled, throwing the driver from the car and causing major injuries, said California Highway Patrol Deputy Denise Quesada. The three right lanes were closed when, about an hour later, while a tow-truck driver was preparing to haul away the remains of the car, a Mini Cooper slammed into the back of his truck, Quesada said.
It did not appear that the driver of the mini suffered critical injuries, Quesada said. The tow-truck driver was also uninjured, she said. All freeway lanes reopened about 7:15 a.m., officials said.
