NEWPORT BEACH — Sailors senior Brianna Schwartz scored the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in the Sunset League match Thursday.

Schwartz sent a towering shot from 30 yards out into the net. Senior Gillian Hogan assisted on the goal for the Sailors (4-5-5, 2-0-1 in league). Sophomore goalie Emily Browne recorded 10 saves and was supported by Shannon Boler, Natalie Swift and Courtney McIntosh on defense. Newport moves into a tie for first in league with Esperanza.

CORONA DEL MAR — Emily Krebs and Annie Alvarado each scored goals in the Sea Kings’ Pacific Coast League match Thursday.

Sydney Raguse assisted on Krebs’ goal for CdM (8-6-3, 2-1 in league).

COSTA MESA — Junior Maria Munoz gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead in the Orange Coast League match Thursday at Estancia High.

Mesa Coach Dan Johnston praised the play of goalie Brittany Stair (nine saves). The Mustangs fell to 7-8-3, 0-2-1 in league.

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Alex Morton had 25 points, 16 rebounds and two blocks in the Sunset League game Thursday.

Sophomore Kasey Thompson had seven points and six rebounds for Newport (9-10, 1-2 in league).

SANTA ANA — Kassie Stratton had 17 points for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Thursday.

Yesenia Maldonado had eight points for Estancia (9-11, 1-1 in league), which trailed, 32-30, with a minute left.
