The California Department of General Services has received seven bids for the Orange County Fairgrounds, a department spokesperson said after the 5 p.m. Monday deadline for submitting bids to the state had passed.
The names of the seven people or agencies that bid won’t be released until 10 a.m. Thursday, when a live auction is scheduled at the fairgrounds, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa. Only those deemed as responsible bidders by the state will be allowed to participate.
A prospective new owner of the 150-acre property is expected to be announced at the end of the auction, said Jeffrey Young, a General Services spokesman.
The auction will be Web cast and is open to the public.
