Body found in beach restroom

A man’s body was found in a restroom at Bolsa Chica State Beach on Friday morning, officials said.

The man, who appeared to be a transient, was apparently using the facilities when he died, said Lt. Mike Reynolds of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The man was found about 7 a.m. by state park maintenance workers during a routine check in a restroom south of the main entrance, said Ken Kramer, the district superintendent of Orange County State Beaches.

The paramedics were called after the man was unresponsive, and they pronounced him dead at the scene, Kramer said.

The man appears to have died from natural causes after a preliminary investigation, said Lt. Russell Reinhart of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The man has been identified, but authorities are waiting to notify next of kin to release his name, Reinhart said.

The case is still under investigation, officials said.
