Contest comes full circle

For decades, Christmas in Newport Beach has become synonymous with the annual Ring of Lights home decorating competition.
Sponsored each year by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce Commodores Club, the contest challenges bay front homeowners to swath their residences with enough twinkling lights to tax Hoover Dam.
This year’s winners include:
Bill and Gay Wassall, 409 Edgewater Ave.; Bruce Fabrizio 1407 Bayside Drive; Jim and Kathy Busby, 111 E. Bayfront; Robert and Chistyne Olson, 351 E. Bayfront; Phil and Mary Lyons, 36 Harbor Island Drive; Jim and Peggy Rich, 802 S. Bayfront; Shirley Pepys, 526 S. Bayfront; Bob and Marcy Cook, 538 S. Bayfront; Dennis and Patty Vitarelli 140 S. Bayfront; Donna Di Bari, 710 S. Bayfront; Greg and Loretta Zimmerman, 327 Sapphire Ave; Bob and Carol Senour, 1000 E. Balboa Blvd.; and Ken and Tracy Hurd, 832 Via Lido Nord.
Winners will be invited to the Christmas Boat Parade Awards Dinner and Auction on Jan. 22 at the Balboa Bay Club and Resort.
The dinner also is open to the public. Tickets to the event include a four-course dinner with wine, dancing and parking, as well as a live and silent auction. For more information, visit www.christmasboatparade.com.
