Superior court needs grand jurors
The Orange County Superior Court is putting out an urgent call for potential grand jurors. The system has less than half as many grand jury applicants as it did last year, according to a news release issued Monday.
Members of the Orange County Grand Jury investigate government agencies, schools and special districts in the county. Past reports include the management of county jails, planning for water shortages and the county’s finances.
Members would assess and evaluate potential problems in the county on top of looking at criminal cases.
Grand jurors must be at least 18, a U.S. citizen, and have lived in the county for at least a year. Before being nominated, applicants will be interviewed by a panel of superior court judges and undergo a background check by the sheriff’s department.
For an application, go to www.ocgrandjury.org, or call (714) 834-6747. Applications also are available at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana, 700 Civic Center Drive West.
