Unlocked home targeted by burglar
A burglar escaped with jewelry and personal documents at 9:28 a.m. Dec. 10 from a home in the 2000 block of Park Place that was left unlocked, Sgt. Louise Callus said.
A neighbor noticed a man enter the back yard of his neighbor who was not home, and when he went into the back yard found a rear door open. He then went out front to call the police, and allegedly saw the suspect exit the house with a bag of property. The suspect got into a car, described as a black, hatchback with tinted windows, and left the area.
Parking ticket ends in man’s arrest
An 18-year-old Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a parking officer after allegedly becoming irate after getting a parking ticket in the 1000 block of Gaviota Drive at 2:29 p.m. Dec. 10, Callus said.
Morgan Brick allegedly walked toward the parking officer who was seated in the driver’s seat of the police vehicle, yelled “unsavory” comments and thrust his hands into the car toward the officer’s head, Callus said. There was no physical contact and the officer made a citizen’s arrest.
After Brick was arrested, police allegedly found illegal fireworks and lip balm containing THC, a chemical component of marijuana, in his possession.
Man accused of drug possession
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug possession after he was detained while sitting in his vehicle in a fire lane at the Montage Resort & Spa at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, Callus said.
Christopher Vasquez allegedly had Vicodin without a prescription, and also was allegedly found to have methamphetamine hidden in his shoe during a booking search at the police station.
Trailer mishap leads to gas line break
Eleven homes were evacuated from the 20000 block of Stans Lane at 11:27 a.m. Sunday after a gas main was damaged by a runaway vehicle, Callus said.
The incident occurred when a man was moving a trailered boat using a Ford Explorer. When the trailer began rolling away, the driver got out to stop it, but forgot to put the Explorer into park, so it rolled into a gas main.
The gas line was shut off and the residents were allowed to return to their homes at 12:52 p.m., according to police records.
