Independent editor leaves the paper

Huntington Beach Independent Editor Brady Rhoades has left the paper after two and a half years.

Rhoades had overseen operations at the Independent and its sister papers the Coastline Pilot and the Daily Pilot since October 2008.

Dan Evans, editor of Times Community News papers the Glendale News-Press, the Burbank Leader and the La Cañada Valley Sun, has stepped in as acting editor of the Independent.

Times Community News, a division of the Los Angeles Times that owns the Independent, has begun a search for a new, permanent editor.
