Two HB residents die in plane crash
A plane crash off the coast of British Columbia on Sunday afternoon left six people dead, including two Huntington Beach residents.
Richard Bruce Haskett, 49, and Cindy Shafer, a Canadian citizen, died after a float plane crashed into the harbor off the island of Saturna, according to a release by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The plane crashed into the water shortly after takeoff on its way to Vancouver. Of the eight passengers on board, only two adults survived. They are currently receiving medical treatment.
Four other Canadian citizens died, including a 6-month-old infant. The incident is being investigated by the Transportation Safety Board and the British Columbia Coroners Service.
