Two Newport Beach residents had thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry stolen from them in separate incidents this week, according to police records.
A woman reported Nov. 21 that sometime within about an hour that night, someone broke into her home in the 200 block of Marigold Avenue in Newport Beach and stole $40,990 worth of jewelry and cash.
Police said the suspect got away in an unknown direction and no description was available.
The burglar caused $500 in damage breaking into the house, according to police logs. A day later, another resident reported her jewelry stolen in an unrelated incident.
In this case, someone apparently got into her studio apartment without breaking in and stole $5,015 worth of Celtic jewelry, checkbooks and miscellaneous papers.

East Bay Street: Vandalism was reported in the 100 block at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday.
Fullerton Avenue: Vandalism was reported in the 2000 block at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday.
East 17th Street: A petty theft was reported in the 100 block at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday.
Trinity Drive: A vehicle was reported burglarized in the 3100 block at 12:02 p.m. Wednesday.
East 17th Street: A grand theft was reported in the 100 block at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday.
West Paularino Avenue: A vehicle was reported burglarized in the 500 block at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday.
South Coast Drive: A vehicle was reported burglarized in the 100 block at 11:26 p.m. Wednesday.
East 17th Street: A petty theft was reported in the 100 block at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday.
West Coast Highway and Riverside Avenue: A drunk driver was reported at 12:14 a.m. Thursday.
Main Street: A person was reported drunk in public in the 100 block at 1:50 a.m. Thursday.
West Coast Highway: A drunk driver was reported in the 4600 block at 2:36 a.m. Thursday.
Dolphin Striker Way: An assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the 4200 block at 1:40 a.m. Thursday.
Irvine Avenue: A grand theft was reported in the 100 block at 11:32 a.m. Thursday.
Bayside Drive: An attempted petty theft was reported in the 1000 block at 12:37 p.m. Thursday.
Irvine Avenue and 17th Street: A suspicious person was reported at 12:40 p.m. Thursday.
Longboat: A car fire was reported in the 100 block at 2:55 a.m. Thursday.
Vista Ornada: Gunshots were reported in the 2600 block at 4:20 a.m. Thursday.
Point Loma Drive: A prowler was reported in the 100 block at 4:40 a.m. Thursday.
Jamboree Road and Eastbluff Drive: Reckless driving was reported at 10:48 a.m. Thursday.
