UC Irvine student leaders, alumni and staff, along with the UC Office of the President, will host an inaugural Budget Write-In from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Phineas Banning Alumni House on campus.

The event is geared toward writing letters to state legislators, and is intended for those who are concerned about the detrimental affect of the state budget cuts on education.

UC Regents recently approved a tuition increase that will put annual tuition at the public schools at more than $10,000 per year.

Alumni and students will make presentations about their experiences, including UC-wide Student Regent-designate Jesse Cheng of UCI. UC Associate Director of Institutional Relations Vince Stewart will deliver a keynote address at 6:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Kathy Eiler at (949) 824-5227 or [email protected].
